Introduction

Discover the full capabilities of the Silent Beacon app by following this comprehensive guide. Learn about all the app screens, functions, and troubleshooting steps to make the most of your experience.
 
IMPORTANT! The Silent Beacon for Businesses App must remain open (and running in the background) at all times to successfully notify your contacts during an emergency. While the Beacon can still call the selected number if the App is closed, your contacts will not receive the designated notifications. Please ensure the App is open and running for optimal Beacon performance.
 

Main Menu

The Home Tab includes the most crucial functionality – Emergency Alert Mode.

Emergency Alert Button

Automatically turns on when the Beacon is in Emergency Alert Mode. Can also be manually toggled in the App for the same Alert.

Settings

Settings allow you to manage your subscription, customize information, password, and the ability to log out of the App.

Map / List Toggle

Allows you to toggle between the Map view that shows your location and any Contacts who are in an Alert Mode and List Mode which shows you all alert information.

Header Tabs

Beacon Tab
You can check your Beacon status, connection, firmware and device information. This also gives you a color status of your Beacon.

Gray = Not Setup
Black = Disconnected
Green = Connected
Yellow = Connection Issue

Dispatcher Tab
Here you can view your Emergency Dispatcher

Main Menu – List 

The “List” tab compiles all recent and past alerts from both the user and their emergency Contacts.
 

Track Footsteps Alert Mode

“Track Footsteps” enables your Dispatcher to continuously track your live GPS location. You can activate this mode by pressing the “Track Footsteps” button at the bottom of the “Home” screen or the small, smooth button on the Beacon.

Turned on from the App
Once “Track Footsteps” has been toggled on, a popup message will appear letting the user know this has started. The user may click “Turn Off” if this was done in error.

Turned on from the Beacon (App open)
The App will send the alerts and the user’s live GPS location to their emergency contacts.

Turned on from the Beacon (App shut)
Nothing will happen.

Check-in Alert Mode

“Check-in” enables your Dispatchers to receive non-emergency notifications with the user’s GPS location. This mode will send a notification to the user’s Contacts sharing a static link to their GPS location with a customized non-emergency message.
 

Turned on from the App
The App will display a popup message confirming that “Check-in” has been sent. The App will send a notification with the user’s GPS location to your Dispatcher.

Turned on from the Beacon (App open)
The App will send a notification with the user’s GPS location to your Dispatcher.

Turned on from the Beacon (App shut)
Nothing will happen. 

Emergency Alert Mode

“Activate Emergency Alert” enables Dispatcher to receive emergency notifications with the user’s GPS location. Simultaneously, the preselected calling Dispatcher will receive a phone call from the user. The user can activate the Emergency Alert by pressing the button at the bottom of the Home screen or the large button on the Beacon.

 

Turned on from the App
The App will ask the user if they wish to call the Emergency Number.

Turned on from the Beacon (App open or App shut)
A phone call will be automatically placed through the Beacon.

To deactivate the Emergency Alert, the user must press the red “Emergency Alert On” button where they are prompted to enter their 4-digit passcode. Once the 4- digit passcode is submitted the Emergency Alert is disarmed.

Dispatchers Screen

The Dispatchers tab allows the user to view their emergency contacts and each contact’s notification settings.

Dispatcher
The contact who will receive the phone call when the Alert is activated on the Silent Beacon device or in the Application. Your company can program any phone number in the U.S. as well as 911.

Personal Contact
If activated from the Admin, you may add a personal contact who will receive alert notifications when the user activates an alert mode.

Settings Menu

The “Settings” menu is where the user can manage their subscription, update messaging, adjust other settings, and review legal documents.

My Information

The user’s contact information is stored in the “My Info” tab, which includes the user’s name, phone number, and email address. Only the name and email address can be edited.

 

The user’s phone number is what serializes the account to the user and cannot be changed. A user must delete their account within the App before creating a new account with a new phone number if they have a new phone or phone number, they moved, or lost their phone.

My Passcode
You may change the passcode that was added at the “Registration” screen.

Delete Account

Your information will be permanently deleted. You will need to contact your Admin about disconnecting from your companies Dashboard.

Online Store

This link will direct users to our online e-commerce store. The user can purchase a Silent Beacon or Beacon accessories.

 

 

Legal Documents

The user can view or download the legal documents that were agreed upon during the registration process.

Online Help
App and Device users can click this option to help troubleshoot any issues. 

Customer Support
If the user has paired a Beacon, purchased a subscription, or is within the 30- day free trial, a secondary support resource appears providing the Customer Support number. The user can call our Customer Support line from 9-5 EST if the they need to speak with a representative.

Beacon Pairing 1/2

Once the Beacon is paired to Bluetooth, “Beacon Calling” attempts to connect.

 

Beacon Calling enables the Beacon to call when in Emergency Mode. Once emergency mode is activated on the Beacon, the paired phone will automatically dial the preset number.

Note:
The Beacon has two-way communication via the water-resistant speaker and microphone. Once Beacon Calling is connected, the user can place calls directly through the Beacon with only one press of a button.

Beacon Pairing 2/2

Once the Beacon is paired to Bluetooth, a popup screen appears stating “Silent Beacon 2 would like to pair with your phone.”

Click “Pair” to fully connect the Silent Beacon to the Application.

Beacon Paired

Now that the Beacon is paired, “Bluetooth” and “Beacon Calling” show as “Paired” in blue and the Beacon’s current Battery level appears.

Can’t Find Your Beacon?
The user can Ping their Beacon to sound its chime. The user must be within Bluetooth range for this to work

Device Information
The user can view their current Firmware version and access Firmware updates.

Device Identifier
The support team can refer to this number if the user has a technical issues.

Remove Beacon
The Beacon will unpair from the user’s phone and delete the user’s settings from the Beacon, allowing it to become accessible to other users.

Factory Reset
The Beacon will unpair from the user’s phone and delete the user’s settings from the Beacon, allowing it to become accessible to other users.

 

Beacon Pairing Issue

When the “Bluetooth” is Paired, but the “Beacon Calling” is not paired, press “Learn More” under “Need Help Pairing?” to troubleshoot the App/Beacon.

 

Once the user presses “Learn More” it will open the “How-To Information” section.

Beacon Reconnecting

If the App has lost connection to the Beacon, it will continue to attempt to reconnect.

Once it finds the user’s Beacon it will reconnect both Bluetooth and Bluetooth Calling.

Remove Beacon from App

“Remove Beacon” will delete the Beacon settings from the App. This is done when a user no longer wants to use the App on their phone or tries reconnecting the Beacon.

 

Once the user presses “Learn More” it will open the “How-To Information” section.

Factory Reset the Beacon

Factory Reset allows users to reset the Beacon to its factory settings. All stored data and connection to the App will be erased. You may wish to Factory Reset the Beacon if there are issues with connection between the App and Beacon or if you are removing the Beacon from the Smartphone.

To complete this process the user must go to their Bluetooth settings and deletethe connection to Silent Beacon 2.0.
